The 17,000 elk/deer combo pool of licenses did not sell out with the March 15th submission in 2011 but did shortly after the results of the drawing were known in April. Whether the license sells out in 2012 will depend mostly on the state of the economy in January and February. Odds are if you apply for the big game combo before March 15th you will get a license.
The nonresident deer license will sell out. There are only 4,600 tags available and the $542. price tag is not high enough to put off demand.
We would recommend you apply for the Big Game Combination License for all of our hunts.
Montana's nonresident licensing system has changed.
The outfitter sponsored or "guaranteed license" is no longer available.
Nonresident elk and deer licenses were sold by computerized drawing in 2011 and will be again in 2012.
